How Do You Celebrate Cinco De Mayo?

Cinco De Mayo is a holiday that most frequently involves stuffing your face with delicious Mexican food, and drinking it down with one too many Tequila beverages.

There is more to this holiday than just partying. It also includes beautiful parades, and festive dresses, that all gets accompanied and concluded by signature Mexican dishes. Some of those dishes include tacos, guacamole, and of course Margaritas.

Between the dancing and partying, you can’t forget about your little fur friend. They want to pawty it up too, through eating and drinking, just like its hooman. Keep in mind, a lot of what is traditionally consumed on this special holiday is harmful to dogs, so I’ve come up with a few easy ways to include your pooch all the while keeping them safe.

Some foods are considered highly toxic to dogs. Of course you must know about the famous one like chocolate, but there’s a long list that follows it. Some of the items include:

  • Nuts
  • Grapes
  • Avocado
  • Milk
  • Alcohol
  • Salt
  • Onion, Garlic, Chives

As you’ll notice, some of them include traditional ingredients that usually make up Mexican dishes made on this special day. But fear not, I have scattered the internet and have come up with the best recipes that your pup can enjoy for Cinco De Mayo.

Paw Cuisine

We’re going to make your pup enjoys the best part of Cinco De Mayo, the food, just as much as you! While keeping in mind what’s harmful to your pooch, let’s begin with famous taquitos, but with a little twist. I present to you PupQuitos!

The best part about PupQuitos is not only are they amazing, but it only requires three ingredients to make them! Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 2 Large Sweet Potatoes – peeled, cooked, and shredded
  • 2 Chicken Breasts – cooked and shredded
  • 1 Zucchini – raw or cooked, cubed

Using cupcake holders, start with a layer of the shredded sweet potato at the bottom, and pop in the oven for 15-20 minutes at 350 farenheits. Let it cool and garnish it with a few pieces of chicken and zucchini. Boom! You’ve got yourself PupQuitos, that your furball is going to devour (and probably you too)!

Bark-A-Ritas

You didn’t think we were going to leave you hanging with nothing to wash down those delicious PupQuitos with! That’s right, your pooch can enjoy a margarita, without the fun part of course. This recipe doesn’t get any easier, here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 Box of Chicken Broth (frozen)
  • 1 Box of Chicken Broth (room temperature)

Grab an ice tray and pour chicken broth, to make broth cubes. Place it in the freezer for a few hours until frozen. Once frozen, place the cubes in the blender with a bit of room temperature broth, add depending on how watery you want it. Leave out the salt on the rim, and you’ve just made a Bark-A-Rita!

To finish off the festivities, just add a costume using a sombrero and pawty it up! You can even match your pooch with the same costumes, and now with the same food too!
