SPCA PETS SNAP of Montgomery County

SPCA PETS SNAP of Montgomery County believes passionately in a community where animals are valued, treated with respect and kindness and provided with a secure and loving quality of life. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit all volunteer based organization that serve the citizens and animals of Montgomery County. To accomplish our mission we will...· Rescue and rehabilitate homeless animals providing a safe haven for the animals until a suitable adoptive home is found or until they are reunited with their owner through our "Save More Lives" program.· Through our "Humane Education and Public Awareness" program further the cause of responsible animal ownership, the great need to reduce the pet population by spaying or neutering their pets and encourage a stronger bond between people and their pets.· Provide a limited number of low-cost spay/neuter services for the people unable to afford to spay or neuter their pets otherwise through our "Last Litter" program. We are not an open admissions organization and we have a "no-kill policy for healthy, treatable and adoptable animals.VISIONWe understand that fulfilling our vision will mean a partnership with the entire community and all of our stakeholders. We envision a county where each companion animal finds a permanent and compassionate home, where communities are enriched by the special bond between people and animals, where cruelty no longer exists and where each home practices responsible pet ownership, including spaying and neutering their pets. With this clear and unified understanding of our purpose, direction and path we set out our core values:We are guided by the belief that no adoptable or treatable companion animal should be unnecessarily euthanized due to space, time, looks or breed.· STEWARDSHIP: We manage and allocate all our resources to remain steadfast to our mission, to achieve the greatest good, and to ensure the future of our organization.· QUALITY CARE: Our actions and decisions are based on providing the best medical care and services to the most animals. We respect the life of each individual animal, while focusing on the welfare of volunteers, community, and the animal population as a whole.· COMMUNITY-FOCUSED: We enrich the community we serve by placing safe, healthy companion animals in responsible, loving homes.· RESPECT: We treat all persons and animals with dignity and respect in a non-judgmental manner. The general public, our clients, donors, volunteers, business partners, suppliers and board members are all viewed as our partners in improving animal welfare and in fulfilling our Mission.· INTEGRITY: We interact with each other and the communities we serve in a way that is respectful, fully transparent and ethical.· INNOVATION: We develop, implement and share new ideas, creative solutions and leading nonprofit practices.

Meet Bonnie

Introducing a very lucky and adorable litter of puppies named Asher, Bonnie, Ginger and Maggie, who were found cruelly abandoned at an industrial site without food or water.  Since we have no idea what their mom and dad(s) looked like, we're taking a guess there's some German Shepherd in there, along with a potential variety of other breeds.  Based on Bonnie's weight at 14 weeks of 18 lbs she is likely to be about 45 lbs as an adult.  They all have very sturdy legs and large paws, usually a clue to future size range. These pups were extremely fortunate to be rescued by a wonderful SPCA PETSSNAP volunteer who is fostering them.  She reports that even at a young age they quickly learned to use a doggie door to go potty outside--not a single pooh in the house, though they still "dribble" some when they become excited or scared.  In their foster home they've been well behaved around kids, other dogs, cats and even chickens!  Bonnie walks very well on a leash now and is learning some basic obedience commands.  And of course, always good to remember that it's normal behavior for them to try out the durability of anything against those sharp little puppy teeth!       They all seemed quite easy going and calm at their first Petco adoption day, with Maggie occasionally showing off some greater confidence by barking a bit at what she thought was suspicious activity (noise from stocking nearby shelves).  The lone brother Asher (who might also have some Husky, Malamute or even Rottweiller ancestors based on his markings?) bonds to people very quickly and loves nothing more than to be with them.  Though their foster says all four of them love to snuggle, despite our suspicions of previous abuse. Bonnie is now ready for adoption as she and Asher have already been spayed or neutered.  Maggie and Ginger will be ready by the end of the month after their spay and recovery period.  They're all current on their vaccinations, worming, flea control and heartworm prevention and they'll also receive a HomeAgain microchip with a lifetime registration.  All this for an adoption fee of just $100 each!  If one of these precious pups has captured your heart, please click on the green arrow icon near the top of the page to submit an online application (no cost or obligation).
