Meet Marshmellow

What do you think of when someone says "marshmallow"?  Soft? Check.  Fluffy?  Check.  Sticky?  Check.  Our marshmallow checks off all the boxes!  Marshmallow is a 6 year old West Highland Terrier, a "westie".  She is a breeder surrender, so she has produced a bunch of gorgeous puppies in her lifetime.  She was a great mom, but that chapter of her life is over now.  It is her turn to have the finer things, be the center of attention, and know love the way all dogs are meant to.   Marshmallow is a cuddle queen!  Sticky, clingy, velcro - this girlie is most happy snuggled up next to her person on the couch watching television or curled up in bed while you read the latest best seller.  She is a shy girl and it takes a little while for her to warm up to new people. Once she feels safe and knows she can trust you, the love pours out of her like a waterfall! She is still skittish and nervous with loud noises and quick movements. For this reason, a home with no children will be required for Marshmallow.     Life outside a cage is exciting and wonderful but also very scary at times.  She is working on her life skills - meeting new people, so much space to run and play, seeing the great outdoors without the bars of her cage blocking her view, delicious foods to taste, and the correct behavior in a house.  This is ALOT for a small girl.  She has come miles since entering rescue, but there is still work to be done. Please allow her the grace and patience she needs to continue to move forward.   She is learning crate training - she is not thrilled, but wants to please her people so she tries.  A fenced in yard is required for Marshmallow.  She is learning to walk on a leash, but it increases her anxiety and may lead her to be a flight risk.  If leash walking, a martingale collar should be used for her own safety.  She is working on her housebreaking and the best trick is to ask her if she wants to go out.  There will be accidents in her now home as she learns a new routine with new rules in her new home.  Patience and love is key to her success.   Marshmallow does well with other dogs - until they violate her very clearly defined boundaries.  She will only tolerate so much nonsense before she puts the other dog in its place.  She has cats in her foster home and there have been no issues.  She does better with women - sorry guys, you are gonna have to work harder to win the heart of this little lady!     If you have a quiet home full of patience and love and look forward to doggie snuggles - Marshmallow is the one for you! Marshmellow is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  She has also had a dental!  Her adoption fee is $450
