Meet Dixie

Dixie was found dumped on a gentleman's property on a snowy, cold day. He spent weeks looking for her owner, but when he didn't have any luck, she was brought into the shelter. She is around 5-6 years old, underweight at around 47 lbs (up from the 43 lbs she weighed in January when she was brought in), and heartworm positive, but she still has plenty of pep. She loves people and getting and giving attention. When she hears someone arrive at the shelter, she immediately stops playing, or sleeping, and comes to greet you with tail wagging. She knows the sit command and takes treats very gently. She has the trademark hound dog howl that she'll use when she's found something exciting to show you, normally her wet food waiting for her after her walk lol. She is friendly with other dogs, but she should be in a home without cats. Dixie is ready to get "fit" and happy in her new home.
