She came to us from an incredibly difficult situation in Texas, where she was rescued from a hoarding case involving over 75 dogs. Tragically, the trailer she lived in caught fire while some dogs were still inside. Laurel made it out, but the trauma of her past has left her very timid and unsure of the world. Despite it all, Laurel is slowly learning that not all humans are scary, and that gentle hands and soft voices can bring comfort. Every day, she makes small steps—coming a little closer, staying a little longer, accepting a bit more love. Her progress is slow, but it’s steady, and it’s beautiful to witness. She needs a quiet, patient home with someone who understands that healing takes time. In return, Laurel will give you the incredible gift of trust—something she’s learning to give one day at a time.
