Meet Hansel

Hansel is around 5 months old (April 2024) and is a shepherd/lab mix that is just the cutest!  Given his age, he would be fine with dogs, kids, women and men! Animals smaller than him, such as small dogs or cats even though he will need someone who can take the time with him on manners when meeting anyone new that is smaller than him. Socialization is key to his growth and development at this age. He will need lots of love, patience and understanding as he learns. Having said that, he's working on Sit and Down and he does it on walks which is kind of impressive because all the dogs are pretty distracted on walks! He's 'nosy' on walks which means he wants to smell stuff and he makes the sweetest kind of a piggy grunt when he smells something especially fun. However, he doesn't pull often - even as he's zigzagging to smell stuff he keeps the lead loose.  When he was in foster care, he did really well using his puppy pads, and going poop outside and since then has learned he really likes to keep his indoor kennel clean so does his business outside. He loves belly or butt rubs and would be a couch buddy if you let him. He's a bit lonely since his sister was adopted so he'll be so happy to be a loyal and loving member of your family!  Loves belly or butt rubs - would be a couch buddy if you let him  If you would like to meet me, please visit our website and complete the pre-adoption application.  Once it has been processed then we can make a date to get together! All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm tested (if over 2 years old), vaccinated, dewormed, flea and tick treated, microchipped and more before adoption. Our adoption policies include: Application, Vet Reference, Landlord approval & Criminal Background Check. We do not do same day adoptions. We request that you call for an appointment after your application has been approved to come and visit the dog of your choice. If you have a dog currently, you should bring him/her along to meet the new dog so we can see how everyone interacts.  Please visit our website for additional information. The online application can be found at :https://hsburnettcty.org/adoption-guidelines/
