American Belgian Malinois Rescue, Inc

The mission of the American Belgian Malinois, Inc (ABMR, Inc) is to act on behalf of homeless or unwanted purebred Belgian Malinois dogs. ABMR, Inc fulfills its mission of service by securing qualified assessment, care, fostering, medical treatment, rehabilitation, and permanent loving homes for Belgian Malinois dogs and puppies that are surrendered, impounded, neglected, abused, or discarded. This breed is often surrendered to shelters due to their high energy levels and are becoming popular with backyard breeders due to their large litters. Our dogs are required to be spayed or neutered before available for adoption.

Meet Zo - IL

Are you looking for a guide? A spiritual leader? A 4-legged person to show you the value of affection and devotion? Well, Zo is your man! His foster mom affectionately calls him Zo-Zo, and she can always count on his love and adoration.    Zo was pulled from a Georgia shelter after being placed on the dreaded “list,” sick with a respiratory infection that turned into pneumonia. After making it out by the skin of his teeth, he was quickly on his way to becoming his best Malinois with his foster mom’s TLC and some veterinary support. He is now a healthy, happy boy who loves playing in the kiddie pool and maybe drinking a bit of it, too. He enjoys playing with the resident male Mal, but he does issue some protective grumbles when too close to foster mom. They are working through this. While Zo enjoys his firehose tug, he is not allowed to have stuffy toys as he quickly makes them un-alive with their innards outwards. The same is true for cardboard boxes, so you will want to hide the Amazon and Chewy deliveries! He is extremely food motivated , and foster mom is working to show him how to play with a ball and a Kong.  Zo has learned sit, and he is practicing down while continuing work on leash manners. He just wants to look at all the things! Zo is crate and house trained. Z0-Zo will quickly dispatch small, moving critters, so he will absolutely not be placed with small children, cats, chickens, or other prey sized critters.  He will be available once he is altered. Zo is located in IL and reasonable transport can be arranged for the perfect forever. So, if you are looking for your next hero, guide, that soul whose very breath depends on your existence, Zo is the devoted Malinois you have been searching for.
