Meet Shelby
*Shelby is partially sponsored! Her adoption fee is $225 with an approved application!* Shelby came in as a stray and went unclaimed! This beautiful almost 5 year old is good with dogs and is good with young kids. (she can be pushy with other females dogs, and does have a bit more of an alpha personality, so a more timid/submissive dog she does best with) She came in already spayed. She appreciates chasing after some toys, but doesn’t bring it back all the time. (kongs and hard rubber toys are her favorite!) She's pretty good on a leash though pulls a bit when she smells something she's interested in or doesn't think you're walking fast enough but she takes direction really well so she'll be a pro with just a little bit of consistent guidance. She is athletic and can jump really high, but she seems to do better without barriers! She absolutely LOVES to be pet and coddled, so she would make a great couch potato! She recently got groomed professionally, and although she was nervous of the water, with patience and slow speed, she did very well and tolerated it just fine! Given her breed, you can expect some stubborness, but that also comes along with loyalty, body guard status, and a loving friend. She adores kids and will stay by their side when out and about as if keeping a watchful eye out. She was recently in a foster home where she was thriving, but it turns out one of the kids in the home had allergies to her. Her foster parents were bummed to have to bring her back. While she was there, she didn’t beg for human food once, even in the car ride where she was sitting in the back with the kids. She sleeps great overnight in a crate with no whining, although she takes a bit of coaxing to get into one. She has learned to tolerate stairs, although more practice never hurts! She’s mature enough where she would love to be the only animal in the house. She needs Some help with leash etiquette, but with the proper tools and correction, she thrives leash walking! This beautiful lady has been in a kennel for too long. While she is a bigger girl weighing 80 pounds, that just makes her the best cuddle buddy. *Reasons to adopt a black dog* 1) Hair doesn't show up on dark clothes 2) Black is slimming 3) Black is chic and always in fashion 4) They're always ready for a formal occasion 5) They're easy to accessorize If you would like to meet me, please visit our website and complete the pre-adoption application.
