Meet Shelby
*Shelby's adoption fee is only $100 as she is partially sponsored by a volunteer who adores her! Shelby came in as a stray and went unclaimed. She is a gorgeous 5 year old, 80 pound Australian shepherd German shepherd mix. Just look at that beautiful silky hair, quirky eyebrows and twinkly eyes! She is good with dogs and adores young kids but does NOT like cats. She was recently in a foster home where she was thriving, giving love and being loved in return, but unfortunately one of the kids in the home had allergies to her. Her foster parents were super bummed to have to bring her back. While she was there, she didn’t beg for human food once, even on car rides where she sat in the back with the kids. She sleeps great overnight in a crate with no whining, although she takes a bit of coaxing to get into one. She has learned to tolerate stairs, although more practice never hurts! She’s mature enough where she would love to be the only animal in the house as she can be pushy with other females dogs, and does have a bit more of an alpha personality, so she does best with a more timid/submissive dog. She needs some consistent guidance with leash etiquette, but with the proper tools and correction she can be a lady like walker! She appreciates chasing Kongs and other hard rubber toys but doesn't always bring them back. Given her breed, you can expect a bit of stubbornness, but that also comes along with loyalty, bodyguard status, and a loving friend. She adores kids and will stay by their side when out and about as if keeping a watchful eye out. She absolutely LOVES to be pet and coddled, so she would make a great couch potato! This beautiful lady has been in a kennel for too long. *Reasons to adopt a black dog* 1) Hair doesn't show up on dark clothes 2) Black is slimming 3) Black is chic and always in fashion 4) They're always ready for a formal occasion 5) They're easy to accessorize If you would like to meet me, please visit our website and complete the pre-adoption application. Once it has been processed then we can make a date to get together! All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm tested (if over 2 years old), vaccinated, dewormed, flea and tick treated, microchipped and more before adoption. Our adoption policies include: Application, Vet Reference, Landlord approval & Criminal Background Check. We do not do same day adoptions. We request that you call for an appointment after your application has been approved to come and visit the dog of your choice.
