Meet Violet, a sweet Shih Tzu mix with a prior life that unfortunately wasn’t kind. Violet was found as a stray. Unfortunately she was malnourished, full of matting, and covered in urine and fecal matter. But there is one thing that drew her foster mom to her….the eyes. The eyes of please help me. Violet is a shy girl coming out of her shell. She is scared of loud noises and sudden movements. She took an immediately liking to the 11 year old in the house and is her constant shadow. Adults seem to scare her a little so soft, kind voices and a quieter house is needed. She had to be fully shaved in order to clean her up, but her fur is growing in nicely. We don’t know anything about Violet. We do know the following is needed in order for someone to apply. A busy household with younger kids isn’t what she needs right now. She needs a ton more time to decompress and be able to trust humans again. Unfortunately the loud noises of children will put her back into her shell. A doggie friend would be great! She has taken to liking the bassett in the home and they love to play together. She almost is scared to be place on grass….almost like she is afraid she will be left outside again. So patience is a must. She needs someone who understands she may have accidents, but also be carried onto the lawn and given tons of praise when she goes potty. Violet is not 100% crate trained but is used to it. She gets VERY excited now for food because she knows she will be fed on a schedule. She can be left out of her crate while gone during the day but she has the comfort of other dogs. It is unknown if she would be a barker if left alone without dogs just for informational purposes. Violet will not be able to go to her furever home until after August 22nd when she is fully vetted and spayed. She is available to meet now but again, the above date is not flexible as we do not release the pups until one week after spay/neuter.
Adoption Process
Our adoption process includes an adoption application. After reviewing your application and contacting the vet and personal references, a meeting is scheduled between the potential adopter and the pet, in the foster's home or a neutral animal friendly place. If there are any resident animals within the home, it is required that they meet at this time. After the meeting, a home visit by one our representatives is REQUIRED prior to finalizing any adoption and we must meet all members of the household where the pet will be living sometime during the adoption process. 6 month post-adoption check in is completed.
