Tig’s story is one of quiet courage—a dog learning to trust, learning what it means to be safe. But before he landed in his foster home, Tig spent *three long years* in a shelter, watching the world pass him by. He had a home once. As a young puppy, someone promised him forever—until they changed their mind. Returned at just six months old, Tig was left behind, not because he failed, but because *humans failed him.* And after that heartbreak, he was continuously overlooked, waiting in the shadows while others found their families. Now, he’s finally getting his chance. With the patience of his foster family and the companionship of other dogs, Tig is learning. He’s watching, absorbing, and inching toward bravery—realizing that affection can be comforting, that butt scratches are worth stepping forward for. When people sit, he feels safer. When hands reach too quickly, he flinches. But even after everything, he’s still willing to try. Trust isn’t instant for Tig; it’s earned through quiet moments and small victories. He’s mastering bedtime kenneling like a champ, and now, we’re carefully working on meeting new people—pushing just enough to grow, but never too much to set him back. Leashes are still uncertain, but we’re teaching him that hands coming toward him aren’t something to fear. Tig never should have had to wait this long. He should have known love from the start. But if there’s one thing he has proven, it’s that he’s *worth the wait.* And now, after three years of watching others find their homes, it’s finally *his* turn. If you have room in your heart for a dog like Tig—for a soul learning how to believe in people again—then he just might be waiting for you. ❤️
