ARF was organized to rescue and transport pets from the county shelter in order to decrease euthanasia rates. Through the years, ARF has been able to help additional pets that the shelter either wouldn't accept or didn't have room to house. ARF does posting and transport for both organizations.

Meet Xeus/Zeus

Xeus's owner unfortunately passed away and 4-year-old Xeus, a beautiful brindle and white boxer, was taken in by a relative. When she reached out to ARF for help placing Xeus and the group had no available foster homes, she agreed to foster him through his vetting and recuperation until he was ready for his forever home. Xeus had his first vet visit on 6/25/25 and weighed 74.5 pounds, but he later weighed in at 83.9 pounds. As many dogs in our area, Xeus tested positive for lymes disease, for which he has been treated and now tests negative. He also had hookworms, was given two treatments of drontal, and now tests negative. Xeus received several shots including 3-year DHPP, lepto, bordatella, and rabies as well as both Nexgard and Interceptor, which has been kept up-to-date. The vet discovered that Xeus has a badly cracked left upper canine tooth and a lower right side molar that is infected. Both teeth must be removed, which has been scheduled for 9/5/25. Xeus has healed well from his neuter of 7/28/25. After his dental, Xeus will have received complete vetting, including a microchip. Xeus is very people friendly and everything wiggles when he sees someone. He is kid friendly and cat friendly, and he made up with the foster family's dogs right away. Xeus has had no formal training, but he will sit and shake. He rides well in a car and does okay on a leash. He likes to go on "adventures" to the neighboring farm, though, so Xeus must have a fenced yard to keep him safe. A friendly and faithful companion like this doesn't come along often! His master passed away at a young age, but Xeus deserves to be loved again! Applications are being accepted for this good boy available for adoption. Get your application in asap, for this is one special fella!
