Hello! My name is Athena. I came here as a stray, wishing I had a family to call my own. I was determined to find a family though, so I found a nice person to help me and they brought me here....but the shelter was scary; so many new people, new smells, new sounds. It was a lot! I was nervous and it took me a while to adjust and feel comfortable. I'm still settling in even now, but I have shown the staff that even though I'm nervous and shy, I do want to find a family I can love. I would do best in a home that is experienced with dogs like me (shy/nervous). I need people who get that the world feels a little overwhelming at times, but when I feel confident, loved, and safe, I can do anything! If you are willing to give me time to be myself, I will give you my heart for forever. It might even take a few meet and greets to get to know me best, but I promise it will be worth it! Come meet me today!If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog's better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict.The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial canine distemper combination vaccination- first worming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 Petwatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neutering-heartworm testingAdoption fee: $135.00Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2025 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older.
