LOVEPAWS

We are similar to Baltimore-based RescueWell in trying to keep pets in their homes but we focus our efforts on low-income areas of PG County. We do not pull animals from the shelter but instead work with pet owners to keep pets in their homes through various types of assistance including our county-wide pet food bank and re-homing. We also help promote animals at the Prince George's County Animal Shelter through shelter photo shoots and adoption events.

Meet Maki

Maki wants to be a working gal when she grows up! Maki is a 4 month old German Shepherd and Malinois mix and she is already full of potential! Maki was the last of her littermates to be taken out of the shelter, but LOVEPAWS knew this girl was special.  Maki is quick to pick up on patterns and loves to use her brain.  She is house trained and making great progress with crate training.  She loves training games and working on her snuffle mat. Maki is being fostered in the city and she has no hesitation with the hustle and bustle.  City grates and loud trucks passing by are no match for this clever girl! Are there other pups to play with? Maki is here for it! She will find a toy to entice her friends to play. Maki excitedly vocalizes when she sees other dogs while out on her walks.  Maki is as sweet as she is clever.  After her time in the shelter, she needs some time to warm up to people.  Once she does, this lovable girl will run around with her people or snuggle in their arms.     Interested in adopting? Adoption Process
We work with owners to find fosters and adopters and put them in touch with each other and provide owner to foster contracts, owner to adopter contracts, and other forms necessary to help owners facilitate these processes.
