Meet Shilo (Mid-East), NS
If I have an adopter, I can come to Vancouver soon!Hello, my name is Shilo and here is a little info about me:Breed: Mini Poodle MixAge: 1 year oldGender: Female, spayedWeight: 8 kg, 16 lbsHeight: 13 inI was rescued from streets in Middle East in pretty bad shape. I was infested with fleas and had skin problems from my fur being matted up. Also, I was weak and underweight. Now I am healthy with no medical issues, thanks to my rescuers and the help of the shelter staff. I'm shy, playful and a smart girl... I enjoy learning new things. It would be great to find an adopter who can work with me and teach me new tricks. I likes to go for hikes, but at home I like to cuddle and relax. I'm a little shy meeting new people but with some time and love I trust you and I will let you pet me. I am a loving and gentle dog and I'm good with people and other dogs. I've been looking for my forever home for a long time now, please adopt me!Energy Level: Moderate/highI get along with:Dogs: yesCats: unknownKids: unknownPrey drive: unknown/not observed. My adopter needs to be willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.Fears: unknown/none observed.Training: basicLeash skills: not really. Please be prepared to train me.House trained: Yes, but please be prepared to help me learn in a new home.Health notes: I have been spayed, dewormed, microchipped and up to date on my vaccination. My adoption fee is $850.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.
