Meet Penny

We found Penny on the side of the highway in early July, hiding under the car railing on a highway overpass. She was very scared, dehydrated, and her paws were bleeding from blisters from the hot pavement. Over the past month we've been watching after her and getting her ready for her forever home! She's a very sweet dog, food-motivated, and eager to be trained. We've started on some basic training with her, including leash walking. She is definitely a skittish dog when meeting people for the first time, but she's getting much more comfortable over time. She's pretty chasey with our two cats, and mostly good with our five-year-old large dog but definitely resource guards food/water/toys. She would probably do best in a home without other animals and with someone who has experience training reactive dogs. She has her initial vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper (2x)), tested negative for worms, and we got her spayed.
