MustLuvBoxers Rescue

Holly Adams founded MustLuvBoxers Rescue in 2013 when she decided to transform an internet forum dedicated to her favorite dog breed into a non-profit rescue that could serve Boxer dogs all along the West Coast. Under her leadership, the rescue saved 58 dogs in 2014, 66 in 2015, and now consistently saves more than 100 dogs each year.Holly serves as the rescue’s president, leading its 250+ volunteers and managing its day-to-day operations. She organizes and assists in all aspects of animal intake such as working with shelters or citizens surrendering dogs, arranging transportation for incoming dogs, and matching dogs with safe and loving foster homes. She also is actively involved in the adoption process, reviewing adoption applications, interviewing applicants, and helping to arrange home-checks prior to approved adoptions. When Holly isn’t helping Boxer dogs get back on their feet and into loving homes, she’s working as a physical therapy assistant helping patients literally get back on their feet. She also loves taking her dogs, Piper and Stevie, to go running at the beach.

Meet Candace

Please meet Candace! She is 8 months old, spayed, current on her vaccines, has a natural tail, and is being fostered in Albany, OR.  Candace is a total “sugar and spice, and everything nice” little Boxer girl, with an extra dash of “spice”, which makes her so much fun to be around! She is a pretty perfect puppy; sweet, adorable, smart, and sometimes feisty. A really great combination!  Candace is working hard on potty and crate training. She’s 99% house trained and bell-trained; and also knows how to use a doggy door. We are working on crate training, but she is definitely more comfortable in a larger confined space, so X-pens and baby gates may be better options for her. Candy is also working on basic commands like “come” and “sit” and will be working on “leave it” next. She also rides well in cars and walks well on a leash. Candace is a typical mischievous, playful Boxer puppy who plays hard and then sleeps hard! Her baby shark teeth make an appearance nipping on ankles and hands when she is over excited, but she is easily redirected with a squeaky ball/toy or a chew. Candace is a huge snuggle bug and loves to sleep under covers and will sometimes burrow under blankets while snuggling. She has the cutest little snores too. While Candace loves being around people and other dogs, she can play happily on her own for a little while and isn’t too clingy. She does want to know where her people are after a while and will go looking. All in all, she is quite a confident little girl. Loud noises like the vacuum cleaner, leaf blower and even wood-working tools have not fazed her. She isn’t a fan of the lawn mower, but she isn’t terrified of it. Candace is an absolute sweetheart and awesome little girl. She will need a family dedicated to continuing her training so that she can grow into the amazing girl that we know she is. A home with a fenced in yard where she can run; and a fun, active family with a fur brother that matches her energy would be Candace’s idea of a dream family. If you feel that you fit the bill for what Candace is looking for, then please fill out an application today – https://www.mustluvboxersrescue.com/adopt.
