Second Chance Companions

We are an all-volunteer organization, started in 1993 dedicated to helping animals in SW Washington and the Portland Metro area. We have a small number of foster homes that take in dogs/cats (and sometimes other small animals) and no central facility, but we also work as a referral service for private owners who are looking for homes for their pets (we do the screening for them and also provide education to try to encourage them to keep their pets, when possible). We have a low-cost spay/neuter program for the public to try to try to curb pet overpopulation. We also work with our local Meals on Wheels program to provide pet food to Meals on Wheels recipients, individuals in assisted living and senior facilities, and area food banks. When we have the funds, we also provide emergency medical assistance to individuals.

Meet Violet

Violet is is an 8 year old castle dog/lab mix. She’s about 45 pounds, all black with a white key shape on her chest and big ears. She’s a sweetheart. Owner says he acquired her from a family member who was going to take her to the pound. She’s a wonderful dog. She gets along with cats and other dogs. It took her a couple days to get along when introduced to owners male dog but now they’re great. Owner loves her but taking her in was an emotional and ethical decision for him at the time. Having three large dogs along with farm animals and kids and all the rest, maybe not the best decision for him. Now you could be fortunate enough to have such a sweet canine companion in your life. You too are given an opportunity to be loved by this special girl Violet. Maybe you don’t already have two other dogs she has to share you with. Maybe you’re looking for a senior dog for the very purpose of giving her the easiest best last years of her life. If that’s you and you’re interested in adopting Violet please fill out an application at sccpets.com (with no cost or obligation to you). Her adoption donation is $145.
