Meet SAWYER (Calif) KY
Hello! My name is Sawyer. Here is some information about me:Breed: Anatolian Shepherd Mix (best guess)Age: 1 year oldGender: MaleWeight: 61 lbsHeight: 26"Hi, I’m Sawyer – a one-year-old Anatolian Shepherd mix (best guess!) with a heart as big as my paws.My story began when I wandered into someone’s backyard, looking for help. No one came forward to claim me, and the homeowner, who had to leave town for work, was desperate to find a solution. Local shelters were full, and I was at risk of being set loose again. Thankfully, a kind rescue angel saw a post about me and stepped in just in time to give me a safe place to land.Since then, I’ve been living in a loving foster home with other dogs, cats, and even birds. I love to play with my furry foster brothers and enjoy watching the cats and birds around me – I’m curious, but I don’t chase. My prey drive is low to moderate; while I may try to follow a squirrel on a walk, I’m calm and respectful at home.I’ve also discovered I really enjoy being around kids. When I’m out on adventures, I naturally gravitate toward them – tail wagging and full of gentle curiosity.I travel pretty well, though I’ve had a little car sickness now and then – nothing major, and it may improve as I gain more experience on the road.I’m gentle, goofy, and eager to bond with people. I’d thrive in a home with a yard to explore, another playful dog, and people (maybe even some kids!) who will keep building my confidence and helping me grow into the loyal, loving companion I’m meant to be.Transportation to Canada is easy to arrange for the right family – I just need someone to say, “He’s ours.”Energy Level: ModerateI get along with:Dogs: Yes Cats: Unknown Kids: Yes (no video proof)Fears/Prey Drive: someTraining: YesLeash Skills: Yes. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if the dog is shown to be good with children we will approve homes with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be charged the passenger fee in addition to this.[MID EAST DOGS] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.
