Meet NAPA (Local) KY
Hello!! My name is NAPA. Here is some information about me:Breed: Labrador Retriever/Border Collie MixAge: 11 monthsGender: FemaleWeight: 43 lbsHeight: TBDHighlights: Smart, beautiful, curious, playfulHey everyone, I am a lovable lab border collie mix, rescued alongside my sister from a high kill shelter in California. I have been with my amazing foster family in Vancouver since April 6th and I am slowly coming out of my shell with my true personaility beginning to shine. I'm as friendly as can be! I've got a wagging tail and a heart full of love just waiting to share with my new family. Whether it's giving sloppy kisses, playing fetch in the yard, or simply snuggling up for a nap, I'm happiest when I'm surrounded by people who care about me. While I may not know much about the world beyond the shelter, I have quickly lbecome accustomed to busying myself collecting shoes and slippers and other household items, stashing them on my bed. Keeps my mom busy putting everything away only for me to start the process all over again!!! LOL. I am curious about my feline brother and will chase and bark at him. Probably best for me to be in a home where I wasnt tempted by kitties. What can I say they are very intriguing! I have been loving all this new attention on me and can tend to be overly assertive with my sister dog. Thankfully she is tolerant while I am learning my boundaries and how to share. Best home for me would be with a tolerant, laid back dog or where I can be the only "Princess". I am eager to learn and explore with my new family by my side. From long walks in the park to lazy days lounging at home, I'm up for anything as long as I'm with the people who love me. With my wagging tail and winning smile, I'm sure to steal your heart in no time. Let's make some memories together!!Energy Level: ModerateI get along with:Dogs: YesCats: NoKids: UnknownFears/Prey Drive: Some observed with cats. Territorial of sleep space on ocassion. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.
