Humane Society of Washington County, TN

The Appalachian Highlands Humane Society promotes Spay/Neuter and we assist individuals who cannot afford that for their pet. We also pull animals from our local animal shelter and place them in foster care, give them any medical attention they need, spay/neuter prior to adoptions. We also, review craigslist on a daily basis and contact individuals listing "free" puppies, dogs, cats and kittens in an effort to get them to surrender to us and attempt to educate these individuals about spay/neuter and the danger of listing free animals. Along with our foster animals, we take animals currently residing in our local shelter to adoption events. We have a goal and are working with our Animal Control Board/local shelter to become a no-kill community.

Meet Cinnamon

I have decided Cinnamon is my spirit animal.  Slightly pudgy, loves naps, has a look of aggravation when awoken from said naps, and likes to be cuddled on her terms; it’s me. I am Cinnamon.    All joking aside, Cinnamon is a cat that I have bonded with a couple of times, sadly, because she has been adopted and returned twice. Neither of the returns were her fault. Her owners had some unexpected life events that made them feel it was necessary for her to come back to us.    She has the funniest personality. She’s a couch potato at heart and spends the majority of her time snoozing. When awake, she’s typically begging for attention or looking for snacks. Cinnamon isn’t a fan of other cats and prefers to be the center of attention (rightfully so, I mean, look at her!).    Cinnamon forms a strong, passionate bond with humans and we are hoping that this future home is finally her forever home. She’s only 3 years old and has been through so much shuffling in her short life. She deserves someone to house her forever and love her endlessly, without pause. If you want to be Cinnamon’s forever family, apply online or email [email protected] for more info!

Adoption Process
$80.00 for cats and kittens, dogs range from $135.00 to $200.00. We have adoption applications and contracts for potential adopters to complete. Vet references are checked and home visits on some animals are required.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
