Tails of the Unwanted

We are Tails of the Unwanted. We started this rescue group to provide dogs and cats a chance at a new start in life. Our animals go into foster homes to become acclimated in home life after leaving the chaos of the shelter environment. We love our animals like they are our own and give them the highest care possible.

Meet Sassy

Sassy is approximately a 7 year old pitbull mix weighing about 60lbs. She is fully vaccinated and now looking for her forever family.  Despite some of her scars (a wonky ear), which tells a tale of survival, her spirits remain unbroken. She’s your typical pitty with so much love to give. She only gets sweeter by the day. She was found as a stray and has since been with her foster mom being completely spoiled, enjoying daily adventures in Charlotte, NC.  Sassy is such a love and truly is just happy being by your side. She loves a dog bed and settles quickly. She is easily entertained with bully sticks, benebones, and toys. She loves to sunbathe in the backyard and lay where ever the sun hits and will gladly accept a belly rub while doing so. She is crate trained, house trained, and sleeps quietly in the crate any time needed. She rides well in the car in a car kennel. She has a goofy personality with lots of silly behavior that will keep you laughing all day. She loves meal times and will come in from outside doing her “bunny hops”. Look out for her classic “sassy” lip smack. She is very gentle when taking treats and knows “Sit”like the back of her paw. She’s doing well with bath time and grooming. She loves going for car rides and taking walks to sniff all the new smells. Car rides and walks are definitely high on her list of favorite things (besides snacks). She is working with her foster mom, who is a dog trainer, on her loose-leash walk using a Herm Sprenger Prong Collar. Having a strong handler familiar with the breed to hold her accountable is recommended. She is also working on other commands like place, here, heel and wait. She does well passing other dogs. Sassy has high prey drive for small critters so she would do best in a home with no cats and at least a 6 foot fence. She’s done well with the other 2 year old female dog in the house. She can become over stimulated at first and likes to sniff intently but is easily redirected and will nicely coexist with some management. No barrier aggression while in a crate. She would likely do best with another neutral dog, medium sized or bigger, who doesn’t become over stimulated. Or fine as an only dog, so she can have all the attention!  While Sassy hasn’t spent much 1 on 1 time with kids, her friendly nature suggests she would be good with them. She has done well passing play grounds and athletic fields.  Sassy will come with 25% off any continued training for her that is signed up for with her foster mom.
