Central Virginia Regional Rescue

My name is Laura and I am the president of CVRR. For 5 years I was the dog coordinator and board member for the Humane Society for Campbell County, where we had one of the largest and most respected foster-care-based rescues in the region. I have been a veterinary technician for 15 years. I have also been a trainer and behaviorist for 10+ years. My volunteers and I pulled away from HSCC because of a varying value system and different long-term goals, to create an organization based on a totally volunteer-run administration where every dollar goes to the animals' care. Educational outreach is also of paramount importance. Rescue has been a huge part of my life and my family's life, and we love having the opportunity to not only help animals get a well-deserved second chance but also play a part in completing a family with a new furry addition. Many volunteers in the rescue world I have found are very much animal people, but I enjoy the human aspect nearly as much as the opportunity to advocate for animals.

Meet Eagle

Eagle is a beautiful boy who loves to snuggle! He would do well in a home where he has lots of room to run, play and show how sweet he is! Eagle is a sweet and affectionate boy who is quiet and just a real "sweetheart". He is smart, friendly and eager to please. He plays well with his littermates (he has four brothers).  Eagle likes to explore, but does not like the rain! He  would be the perfect companion for an active person or family. He has been exposed to cats and so far has done well (he is just curious about them). Eagle is listed as available and we are accepting applications on him and his four brothers (Goose, Falcon, Duck, and Pigeon). They have started their vaccinations and are microchipped. We welcome applications from outside the Lynchburg area; just keep in mind that non-local adopters must wait until they are neutered before they can leave their foster home.     * This dog's adoption fee is $275

Adoption Process
We have an extensive application process where veterinary references are checked (we require all current and past animals have been altered and that the client shows a history of good vet care) and we has a number of questions targeted at encouraging the adopting family to really consider if they are ready financially and emotionally to support an animal life long. We also try to match the right animal with the right home with consideration to the adopters previous animal experience, energy level, and general personality. After reviewing and approving and applicant (on paper), we meet with them and all members of their house hold including other resident dogs. We offer one week trials to ensure this decision is in the best interest of both human and animal. If all parties are confident upon meeting, then we have a contract which also states that if any anytime they are unable to keep the animal, that they will return in to our organization. Adoption fees vary from $100-275 based on age, size, and breed, with $175 as an average.
