KODAK WILL NEED A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Kodak is currently going through heartworm treatment and will make his way to the DMV once his treatment is complete in July. Name:    Kodak        Best Guess for Breed:   Schnauzer/Terrier    Best Guess for Age:    2.5 years        Gender:    Male Approximate Weight:   18 pounds  Gets Along With: Other dogs! We have not seen him with cats or kids, but he can be tested.  Currently Living At: Shelter, Kodak needs a foster or forever home! Special Adoption Considerations: Kodak is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Adoption Process
1. Complete Adoption Application 2. Phone interview, vet check and home visit. 3. Contract signed (requirements include keeping a pet ID on dog at all times, keeping the dog as a pet, spaying/neutering puppies by 6 monts of age, returning the pet to Lucky Dog in the adopter cannot take care of it at any point in the future, and providing adequate vet care for the rest of the dog's life.
