Meet Kashi: Not At shelter

KASHI is seeking a new home! He is a 23-pound French bulldog, two years old, and seems non-reactive to other dogs.  Frankly, because we are at a crunch for space at the shelter, when we called for backup and an emergency foster home, we had no trouble finding a volunteer immediately. Thank you to Dora for stepping up to the plate!  Her observations from his immediate introduction to her home were these: “First impressions: Rides well in the car. Walks great on a leash. Has ZERO dog aggression. He doesn't seem like he really needs to be friends with my girls. However neither of my girls are good with personal space and have been all up in his business and he has not cared in the slightest. LOVES people. And absolutely just wants to be in a lap. Doesn't care whose. His biggest downfall is the marking. But with a 2yr old unfixed male that is just a thing you've got a deal with. I don't think you guys will have ANY problems with finding someone to adopt him.” Here’s the deal: he was surrendered to the shelter because he is not house trained. Do you know how we fix that quickly? Yep, we fix him! It generally takes only about 30 days for a neuter to help a dog learn to stop marking. And there are wonderful tools available to help with that as well, including a male wrap, a.k.a. a belly band. His adoption fee will be higher than our usual because he is in a foster home, and we’re going to make sure he is well adjusted before he leaves. Applications  can be filled out on our website, but we will not be making a decision quickly. We want to make sure we know him well.  Go to www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org     PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. For questions about the pet, please email us at [email protected]. All adoptions begin with an application, found under the "Animals" tab on our website, friendsofcampbellcounty.org. *Unaltered babies under the age of six months can be adopted only to residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, and counties touching Campbell County. *Unaltered adult pets six months or older will need to be sterilized before they can be adopted outside our local area of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, or counties touching Campbell. *We do not promote dog adoptions to homes where an invisible fence is the fencing of choice. *We do not permit cats or kittens to be declawed following adoption.

Adoption Process
Begin with an application to adopt. Other pets in household must be spay/neutered, current with rabies vaccines, dogs need to be current with HW testing and heartguard. Fees range between $75 and $300. We follow up on spays/neuters for pets under six months, and the fees include spay/neuter. Contract requires it. Adults are adopted out already spayed/neutered. Pets must be returned to FOAC if adoption ends.
