SAM NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:   Sam          Best Guess for Breed:  Chow Chow mix Best Guess for Age:  6 months as of 5/21/25       SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight:  22 lbs as of 5/21/25 - he is still growing!   Gets Along With:  Sam is great with other dogs and has done well with kids too! We haven't seen him with cats but are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters.   Currently Living at:   Puerto Rico shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get on a freedom flight on June 14!   See this cutie in this video! - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_gi_dV52Xs   Special Adoption Considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think Sam would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure he can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.   About Sam and what he is is looking for: He's looking for his forever home! This sweetie was rescued off the streets of Puerto Rico. He survived parvo and now is happy, healthy puppy oh so ready and eager to have his own humans for sniffy walks, romps in parks, and all the adventures they can dream up. The local rescue personnel who took care of him say he is wonderful and has a huge heart.    Sam has so much love and loyalty - is so ready to be a well loved family dog. What do you say? What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once Sam has arrived in the DC area and spent some time in foster care here. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Adoption Process
1. Complete Adoption Application 2. Phone interview, vet check and home visit. 3. Contract signed (requirements include keeping a pet ID on dog at all times, keeping the dog as a pet, spaying/neutering puppies by 6 monts of age, returning the pet to Lucky Dog in the adopter cannot take care of it at any point in the future, and providing adequate vet care for the rest of the dog's life.
