New Rattitude, Inc.

New Rattitude is a national, all-volunteer non-profit rescue/adoption agency whose mission is to rescue Rat Terriers (and mixes that are predominantly Rat Terrier) from imminent death at animal shelters, the streets, abusive/neglectful homes, or from owners who can no longer keep a dog, and to rehome the dogs into new and permanent, screened and approved adoptive homes. Each dog rescued is cared for in a safe and nurturing foster care environment where he or she receives appropriate medical care, a high quality diet, training and socialization. To achieve these ends, the organization is involved with transportation, volunteer recruiting and training, mentoring, fund-raising, and establishing and maintaining other programs deemed helpful to achieving the mission of rescuing and re-homing Rat Terriers.

Meet Buzz (VA)

Buzz (Lightyear) is a chocolate tri-color rattie or close mix with the size and proportions typical of a Type B, or Teddy, rat terrier. The healthy 5-year-old's foster mom operates a dog boarding and daycare facility, so Buzz is getting lots of opportunities to meet other dogs. The staff report that they really enjoy Buzz; he's friendly and cuddly with just enough terrier sass to make him very entertaining.   Buzz is house-trained and crate trained. He rides well in the car and does fairly well walking on leash. He enjoys the company of other dogs, but his play style is VERY forward and physical, so your other dogs, if any, would need to be tolerant of the growly, assertive friskiness that is so common in terrier breeds. Buzz's way of expressing himself in play is NOT aggression. He just "revs" up when he runs and likes to body check other dogs. You can observe Buzz in action in the video in his online album at  https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/buzzlightyear  . He probably wouldn't be a good fit with cats, but since he does respect corrections from other dogs, he might be OK with a confident cat.   Buzz knows basic commands and is happy to learn more. Beefy and strong at 15 lbs., he's no frail flower. He'll be able to do just about anything you might want him to do. He's HANDSOME, and he knows it. You're gonna love Buzz to infinity and beyond.
