Pepper

Central Virginia Regional Rescue

My name is Laura and I am the president of CVRR. For 5 years I was the dog coordinator and board member for the Humane Society for Campbell County, where we had one of the largest and most respected foster-care-based rescues in the region. I have been a veterinary technician for 15 years. I have also been a trainer and behaviorist for 10+ years. My volunteers and I pulled away from HSCC because of a varying value system and different long-term goals, to create an organization based on a totally volunteer-run administration where every dollar goes to the animals' care. Educational outreach is also of paramount importance. Rescue has been a huge part of my life and my family's life, and we love having the opportunity to not only help animals get a well-deserved second chance but also play a part in completing a family with a new furry addition. Many volunteers in the rescue world I have found are very much animal people, but I enjoy the human aspect nearly as much as the opportunity to advocate for animals.

Meet Pepper

Pepper is sweet and loyal companion in need of a forever family. She is a gentle soul who adores her current furry friend, a toy poodle with whom she shares a harmonious relationship. Despite their size difference, they play well together and enjoy each other's company. While Pepper is fantastic with female children and adults, she has shown some discomfort around male children and certain adult males. She can be anxious and submissive around strangers, particularly men, but she warms up quickly to women, showering them with affection. Pepper's loving nature shines through when she's comfortable. She's intelligent, affectionate, and enjoys playing with toys and balls. After a good play session, she's content to relax and snuggle up with her human companions. If you're a patient and understanding individual or family, Pepper could be the perfect addition to your home. She thrives in a female-led household and would make a devoted companion to the right person. If you're interested in providing Pepper with a loving forever home, please reach out to us. Let's find Pepper the loving family she deserves!   * This dog's adoption fee is $200

Adoption Process
We have an extensive application process where veterinary references are checked (we require all current and past animals have been altered and that the client shows a history of good vet care) and we has a number of questions targeted at encouraging the adopting family to really consider if they are ready financially and emotionally to support an animal life long. We also try to match the right animal with the right home with consideration to the adopters previous animal experience, energy level, and general personality. After reviewing and approving and applicant (on paper), we meet with them and all members of their house hold including other resident dogs. We offer one week trials to ensure this decision is in the best interest of both human and animal. If all parties are confident upon meeting, then we have a contract which also states that if any anytime they are unable to keep the animal, that they will return in to our organization. Adoption fees vary from $100-275 based on age, size, and breed, with $175 as an average.
