Layla is a gorgeous and gentle 2-year-old rat terrier weighing 15 lbs, with a few more pounds to shed. Layla's personality is sweet and shy - she's definitely more lap dog than adventure buddy. She thrives on cuddles and would do best in a quiet household since loud noises tend to make her nervous. The perfect person for Layla will be patient as she builds trust, but once you've won her over, she forms strong attachments to humans and will follow you around the house all day long. She'll steal your heart with her affectionate kisses, and in typical rattie fashion, she might steal your snacks if you're not watching! Layla seems fairly indifferent to other dogs and would be happy as the only pet in a calm home. She hasn't been tested with cats or small children. On the house manners front, Layla is house-trained and does reasonably well in a crate, though she definitely prefers sleeping in bed with her humans. She might whine a little when left alone but can manage 4-5 hours by herself without issue. Layla walks nicely on a leash without pulling and enjoys outdoor time in peaceful environments, not dog parks or loud city streets. So far, Layla only knows the "sit" command, but she's extremely food-motivated which means she should eagerly learn new tricks and commands. Are you looking for a gentle companion who will shower you with affection and cuddle with you all day long? Learn more about Layla in her photo album https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/layla .
