Meet Wylie

Meet Wylie! A gentle and loyal five-year-old Mountain Cur/Labrador Retriever mix from Florence, SC, whose black and tan coat hides a heart full of devotion, playfulness, and sweet quirks waiting to shine. Wylie is the definition of a laid-back companion—with a twist! Most days, you’ll find him snoozing in his bed or sprawled out on the deck no matter the weather, soaking in the serenity like a seasoned nap connoisseur. But don’t be fooled—this 73-pound love bug gets whimsical bursts of energy that send him bouncing into a game of tug-of-war or showing off his ever-growing repertoire of tricks. Obedience training isn’t just a pastime for Wylie—it’s a thrill! He thrives on mental stimulation and is proud to demonstrate commands like “sit,” “wait,” “spin,” and even the stylish “guard walk” between your legs. Independent and curious, Wylie loves to explore the yard, especially with the freedom of a doggie door and a secure fenced space. He’s currently living harmoniously with another dog and has had plenty of experience with canine companions, making him well-suited for a home with other friendly pups. While he hasn’t spent much time around cats, he’s always been respectful and non-aggressive. Wylie is shy at first with new people—he might need about ten minutes to size things up—but once he knows you're safe, he transforms into the affectionate cuddle bug who rests his head gently on your lap and soaks up every bit of love. He does, however, need a home without young children. Kids under seven bring out his anxiety, and he communicates that discomfort through growling and barking. While he's never been aggressive or bitten, a peaceful, child-free environment is where Wylie will flourish emotionally. If you're looking for a loyal shadow, a tug-of-war champ, and a sweet soul who just wants a calm, caring environment, Wylie might be the perfect match! He’s ready to offer his heart to someone who understands his sensitive side and celebrates his many talents. Could your couch—and your heart—use a loyal head to lean on?
