Meet Birdie
Meet Birdie – Your Next Adventure Buddy and Cuddle CompanionBirdie is a 23-lb Chihuahua mix with a zest for life and a heart full of love. She came to CAWS from a high-intake shelter where she was at risk of euthanasia — and she hasn’t stopped showing gratitude for her second chance. This bright, affectionate girl absolutely adores her people. She’ll happily snuggle right into your lap and soak up all the love you have to give. She’s playful, loves toys and chews, and she’s an awesome hiking partner who’s always ready to hit the trails or explore somewhere new. Birdie is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows how to relax and enjoy her time indoors.Like many dogs who’ve had a rough start, Birdie is still learning to feel fully secure in her surroundings. She’s working on a few things and will do best with an adopter who can continue to guide her with patience and consistency:-She gets anxious when left alone and may cry or whine — she feels safest when her people are close by.-She’s very food motivated and sometimes can’t help but go into scavenger mode — mealtime is her favorite part of the day!-She can be a little vocal around other dogs and would thrive as the only pet in the home where she doesn’t have to share her space or snacks.-She’s still learning boundaries with play and may nibble during petting or excitement — not aggressively, just with a little too much enthusiasm.Birdie would love a home where someone is around often and can help her continue building confidence. In return, she’ll be your most loyal and loving companion — one who’s always up for a cuddle session or a spontaneous adventure.Birdie is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $200. Applications are not first-come, first-served — we focus on the best match for each pet. Please allow up to 48 hours for processing. If Birdie sounds like the missing piece in your life, apply now at http://caws.org/adoption-application.
