Meet Murphy

Murphy is a sweet and special boy who loves his person without reserve! He is a 15ish lb mix of sorts- retriever x chi mix(?) and about 4 years old. Murphy loves his toys and treats, and would love to have a companion that wanted to play fetch with him, as he is a pro! He is leash trained, enjoys walks with his person, and loves to go for rides in the car. He is looking for a home that is active and one that also has a very secure yard. This cute boy is all wiggles and smiles when he is with his beloved person, so someone who is home most of the time is ideal. Murphy also does fine in his secure and safe crate while his person is away and enjoys the safety and retreat that it provides- so this is a must in his adoptive home. Murphy would enjoy another confident and calm dog in his adoptive home to provide him some guidance and companionship, and help him grow in confidence. Murphy is great about going outside to potty in his foster home, and will need patience and initial direction to be successful in his new home. He is great about using the dog door too! He is great on leash and loves to go on walks. Murphy is a one person dog, he prefers women, and sometimes children, but has a consistent dislike/fear of men (unfortunately), visitors and anyone he doesn't know. Potential adopters would need to have a solid understanding of how to handle, approach and keep a scared dog safe during the settling-in period, as Murphy can be a flight risk until he is comfortable and settled. Even when scared (initially) he generally maintains a sweet and gentle demeanor, generally fleeing and playing keep away but will nip anyone not familiar who corners him.. Murphy is fixed, vaccinated and microchipped. His adoption fee is $200. To be considered, please apply online at caws.org. Thanks!
