Meet KARMA

Karma is a six year old long-hair German Shepherd looking for a loving family of her own. She’s got a heart of gold, gets along great with other dogs big and small, and kids. She’s a solid girl about 75 lb. and highly intelligent…you’ll can see it in her eyes. That means, she can figure out how things work, like door handles and drawers, so she needs a firm voice to tell her “no” sometimes. She’s a quick learner; you only have to tell her once or twice. She’s a people pleaser, just wants to know how to make you happy, and loves a good walk on a leash; you’d think she was a professionally trained, the way she stays at your heel. When she’s excited, she’ll chase you and give playful nips on your hand and “talk to you” to let you know she’s having fun. She and our pittie bonded easily; they spend hours playing tug of war. She’s housetrained and loves to be inside in the A/C. On a scale of 1-10, her energy level is a solid 5. She’s pretty chill but also has a touch of anxiety. This manifests in not wanting to be alone in the house or left outside by herself. She does not like being in a crate; the few times we tried she gets pretty upset so we allow her to roam the house. Her perfect family, we feel, will be one who works from home and preferably with another dog to show her the ropes. While she loves other dogs, she fixates on cats. Not in an aggressive way, but in an intense, fascinated way that makes cat uncomfortable. With her anxiety, she might seem a little slow to adjust at first, pacing the house, following you from room to room. But in a few days with a good routine in place she learns how to relax. Unfortunately, since she was found on the street, she is heartworm positive, but undergoing treatment. She’s also a shedder, so her new family will have to be okay with a little extra hair laying around. But overall, she’s a wonderful girl, with many good years left.
