Meet Grimm
Location: Bardstown, KY (we adopt nationwide)DOB: 3/26/2019Introducing the one and only Grimm! His past may be reflected in his name but this cutie is looking for his fairytale ending. So here’s the tea on this silver muzzled guy:Grimm comes from a pretty sketchy background and was removed by animal control due to an animal cruelty case. He has many scars on his body that shows the neglect he endured. His age shows in his movements of getting up and jumping. This darling has some pesky arthritis and will need medicine to help ease the discomfort. He is currently prescribed Galliprant and takes high quality hip and joint supplements. He loves car rides and lounging on the bed but getting up to high surfaces requires a little help. So, if you have a high vehicle or a high bed, a ramp or stairs allows him easier accessibility with minimal discomfort. KIDS: Grimm is great with his human 11-year-old foster brother. He often wants to sit with him which results in Grimm sitting on him because Grimm doesn’t realize how big he is. Younger kiddos would be ok as long as they are used to big dogs. CATS: There are 3 outside cats at his foster home. The cats are finicky and only want interaction on their terms. Grimm accepts this and shows no reaction regardless of if they are weaving between his legs or running for the hills. ADULTS: Introductions to adult males needs to happen SLOWLY. Grimm is very scared and nervous around new men. After some time. he manages to reach an amicable relationship. A low traffic home would definitely make Grimm less nervous. Grimm is a ladies man. Literally. He much prefers women over men. Grimm loves his foster mom and will be a true Velcro Dane to the person he loves most. He has to be wherever she is in the house. This means a forever bathroom buddy, shower safety supervisor, and fashion advisor in the closet when picking out clothes. DOGS: Grimm has 3 furry foster siblings. He prefers to do his own thing and doesn’t really play with them. Grimm and his German Shepherd foster brother complete what we have dubbed “the daily patrol” where they will roam the entire fence line together. Grimm shows no aggression during meal time. However remember that Grimm REALLY loves his foster mom and he wants the prime spot next to her when she’s relaxing. If he doesn’t get that spot because one of the other pups snagged it first he’s very vocal about his displeasure. He will even try to just push his way in or climb on top of the other pups. A home without other dogs or with non-reactive dogs is a must to deter any affection wars. FUN FACTS: Grimm takes medicine like a champ- no stealthy ninja skills required. He prefers stuffed animal toys over ropes or hard chew toys. Make sure you have plenty laying around to deter him from seeking out shoes as he has a love of slides, flip flops, and house slippers. They stand ZERO chance if given the opportunity. Sneakers and boots we have found really aren’t his taste. Grimm is the best bath taker. He will stand in the tub and never tries to escape. In fact he loves getting baths and the biggest battle you will have is getting him out because he seems to love all the rubs! Grimm is crated when his foster parents are gone. He goes into his crate with no problem but once in he will let you know that he would rather be out roaming. The sassy barking is short lived, and he settles down just fine after a bit. He likes to dig when out in the yard. His massive paws can start a hole when your back is turned for just a second. Perhaps he was a gold prospector’s dog in a former life… Leash skills are a work in progress. He doesn’t bolt away but rather wants to investigate every tree, flower, bush, sign, crack in the sidewalk, piece of trash. Getting him to move along takes a bit of effort. No counter surfing for this darling- he’s a complete gentleman and takes treats very easily from your hand. He will however bore a hole through you with his steely gaze and salivate immensely if you are munching on something and not sharing. Given the possibilities of what he dealt with in his past, Grimm is an exceptional dog. He has his quirks but no doubt those were established out of circumstances and survival. He’s an old soul and deserves so much love, snuggles, kisses.
