Meet Astrid #loves-her-hoomans
DOB 4/12/23 weight 56 pounds Hey there, everyone! I'm Astrid, a gorgeous, fun-loving, friendly, outgoing, energetic Siberian Husky/ White German Shepherd mix gal with striking icy-blue eyes and an always-happy, exuberant spirit. I absolutely love my hoomans and want to be with them all the time. Foster Mom hasn’t told me that I’m NOT a toy dog, so I like to jump up in her lap for a good snuggle. We huskies are pack-oriented dogs, so I get along superbly with other dogs whom I meet on walks. I know that my harness means that I’m going for a walk or to the dog park. Yipee! I’m leash-trained, although if I get nervous, I circle behind Foster Mom. I live with foster and resident cats, and I do better with the ones who are jerks because they keep me in line, not the sweet, docile ones. Some of them even like me and wander into my crate just to be with me. We huskies were bred to be compact sled dogs of significant endurance to pull light loads over frozen expanses. When we become house pets, we need an outlet for our considerable energy. So it's best that I get vigorous daily exercise at the dog park or in the back yard with a secure fence so I can run, run, run to my heart’s content. I’d love a yard with plenty of bushes and trees as well as lizards, which I pounce on like a fox. If it’s not too hot, I love being outdoors where I can splash in the wading pool or be watered like a plant with the hose. I’m not a backyard dog unless Foster Mom is there to play interactively with me. When she throws my favorite toy, I always bring it back for more fetching. I’m ready to frolic all the time, and after a good play session, I’ll settle down and lay at Foster Mom’s feet or on the bed with her if she’s tired too. I’m a smart, eager-to-please girl who knows my name as well as voice commands like sit, down, no, off, and come here. I’m already trained to sit for my food to be served, but don’t try to touch my food after you’ve given it to me! Although I’m crate-trained, I don’t like to be left alone inside because I get separation anxiety and won’t settle down even for short periods while Foster Mom is away. So she leaves me in a room of my own with no fancy furniture, and I’m happy as a lark. Other things I don’t like are thunder and lightning storms, large trucks, and small children. I was found as a stray on Foster Mom's brother's street. Now I'm all ready for my second and forever home. A family with happy, older teenagers or young men would be the cat’s meow. If you're looking for a medium-sized dog who really, really enjoys family life, I'm your girl! Come meet me today and see my beautiful blue eyes for yourself HOPE ID D24-0409-0011 If you are interested in Astrid and would like to fill out a Dog Adoption Application, please go to: http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php .
