Scooby

Dallas Australian Shepherd and Herding Dog Rescue

What was once a group of neighbors who shared a passion for our dogs and socializing with them and one another -- DASH -- is now an official non-profit organization sponsored by a private foundation and the generous donations of friends, family, previous adoption clients and Dallas-area dog-lovers who share a mission: to help us find a home for every lost, neglected, abused or abandoned dog.

Meet Scooby

Scooby LOVES to play fetch with His Special Ball - He wants you to throw the ball as far as you can, but wants you to work at trying to get the ball from him! He loves treats and gets the zoomies very easily. It is the funniest thing! He absolutely loves to go on car rides and likes to poke his head out the window to feel the wind in his short fur. He’ll walk back and forth between the windows to look outside and watch the cars drive by. His favorite place to go is DutchBros to get the infamous “pup up.” He even sits like the goodest boy to wait for his “Scooby Snacks.” After playtime Scooby gets very chill and down to 5-6 energy. He’s a great snuggle bug but doesn’t realize how big he really is.   Scooby needs to be able to run around and be able to snuggle with his favorite humans. Scooby is the definition of “Gentle Giant” with the exception he’s only “Giant” compared to medium-sized dogs. Scooby loves to crawl in your lap and loves his butt being patted. He likes to lean up on you to give you his “catahoula hug.” Scooby did very well with our other dog and always wanted to play. She unfortunately passed from cancer last March. He would love to have a large female companion dog to play with and be supportive with. Scooby needs a home with an active person(s) who can play fetch with him and keep him socializing with other dogs. Older children are ok but Scooby is still a big goofy guy and not able to balance his size and small children or toddlers. He also does great with cats in the home.  APPLICATION REQUIRED from www.dashdog.org  Adoption Fee $450 - the fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE and is not specific for any dog or puppy; it goes to the expenses of the organization as a whole* OUR APPLICATION IS ON www.dashdog.org and must be completed in order to set up a meeting. Our listed dogs ARE READY IMMEDIATELY; we only meet with families WHO ARE READY TO ADOPT! IF YOU APPLY and if WE APPROVE YOU it means we are assuming when you meet any of our dogs and fall in love you're ready to ADOPT AND HIM OR HER HOME!   General Info - PLEASE READ! *Our $450 adoption fee is based on the cost of rescuing, transporting and vetting each dog; we do not try to compete on prices with municipal shelters whose funds are paid by the city. Our philosophy is to rescue highly adoptable dogs, have them live kennel-free in private homes for temperament assessments and individual personalities. We work hard to match EACH dog with the right family - kids or no kids, other dogs male or female and/or cats. With very rare exceptions all dogs over 6 months will be spayed or neutered PRIOR to adoption - dogs under 6 months will include a spay/neuter date AND referral info for lower-cost surgery if the adopter does not choose to use her or his personal vet. OUR VETS WILL NOT PERFORM SPAY NEUTER SURGERIES UNTIL DOG IS 6 MONTHS OLD.

Adoption Process
Potential adopter must fill out extensive application. We then coordinate a time to meet them with the dog they'd like to see. They sign a contract and the fee for our dogs is $450.
