SRGDRR Inc aka Save Rocky the Great Dane Rescue and Rehab

SRGDRR is a 100% volunteer organization. Like all humane groups, SRGDRR is in the unique position of helping both humans and pets. In our case, the pets are Great Danes and Great Dane Mixes, and the people are those who have or want the companionship of the breed or, often, just dogs in general. SRGDRR helps people to:Determine the right breed of dog for their lifestyle.Find healthy and companionable dogs that fit their circumstances.Find loving replacement homes for Danes they can no longer keep.Become knowledgeable about the care and training of their Great Danes.Resolve their Danes physical/behavioral problem.Overcome the grief at the loss of their loved pet.Stretch their tax dollar by assuming the Dane burden from public shelters.SRGDRR helps Danes:By providing for the rescue and care of those who have been abandoned, neglected, and/or abused by their previous owners.We spay/neuter and provide medical treatment as necessary to return the Dane back to good health.We also supply training/socialization to ensure their adaptability to new, good homes.We work to place rescue Danes to people who provide secure, loving, and healthy homes.SRGDRR spends an average of $300 per dog that enters our rescue. In order for us to continue providing the best care and vetting for these babies, we need donations and adoptions. Thank you all so very much.

Meet Tootsie

LOCATION: Montgomery, TXDOB: 12/10/2024Meet Tootsie, a gentle and loving Great Dane–Lab mix who has already proven to be an incredible mama. She came to us from a shelter with six beautiful puppies, and now that her babies are all grown and ready for homes of their own, it’s Tootsie’s turn to find her happily ever after.At first, Tootsie can be a little shy and cautious—she’s been through a lot—but once she realizes she’s safe, her sweet personality shines. She quickly becomes your shadow, following you from room to room and happily curling up wherever you are. Whether it’s a short walk down the street or a lazy afternoon on the couch, she’s the perfect companion.Tootsie is wonderfully well-mannered and easy to live with. She’s housetrained, kennel-trained, and does great when left alone for short errands. She’s also gentle and polite with kids, currently living with three children who adore her—she even hops into their beds in the morning to help wake them up! She lives peacefully with cats and a senior dog, preferring to focus on her people instead of the other animals. If a cat hisses or tenses up, Tootsie simply runs the other way—she’s all about keeping the peace.Her energy level is just right for someone who enjoys calm days at home. A short walk or some time in the backyard is all she needs before she’s ready to snuggle up for a nap. She loves plush toys and will happily chase them when you toss them, though she has no plans to bring them back!Tootsie can be wary of men at first, but with a little patience, calm voices, and a few treats, she warms up beautifully. She’s not aggressive—just a bit unsure until she feels comfortable.This sweet girl would thrive in a home where she can feel safe, loved, and included. She doesn’t need much—just a soft bed, gentle hands, and a person or family to call her own.
