SRGDRR Inc aka Save Rocky the Great Dane Rescue and Rehab

SRGDRR is a 100% volunteer organization. Like all humane groups, SRGDRR is in the unique position of helping both humans and pets. In our case, the pets are Great Danes and Great Dane Mixes, and the people are those who have or want the companionship of the breed or, often, just dogs in general. SRGDRR helps people to:Determine the right breed of dog for their lifestyle.Find healthy and companionable dogs that fit their circumstances.Find loving replacement homes for Danes they can no longer keep.Become knowledgeable about the care and training of their Great Danes.Resolve their Danes physical/behavioral problem.Overcome the grief at the loss of their loved pet.Stretch their tax dollar by assuming the Dane burden from public shelters.SRGDRR helps Danes:By providing for the rescue and care of those who have been abandoned, neglected, and/or abused by their previous owners.We spay/neuter and provide medical treatment as necessary to return the Dane back to good health.We also supply training/socialization to ensure their adaptability to new, good homes.We work to place rescue Danes to people who provide secure, loving, and healthy homes.SRGDRR spends an average of $300 per dog that enters our rescue. In order for us to continue providing the best care and vetting for these babies, we need donations and adoptions. Thank you all so very much.

LOCATION: Zionsville, INDOB: 06/25/2023Meet Diesel, a striking Harlequin Great Dane with a big heart and even bigger dreams of finding his forever home. Currently living the good life with his foster dad in Indiana, Diesel is a gentle giant who just needs a little time to warm up—but once you’re in his circle, you’re in for life.Diesel is the perfect mix of sweet and sassy. He’s a total cuddle bug at heart, happiest when he’s stretched out on the couch with a soft blanket and a good pillow. Don’t let his snuggly side fool you, though—he’s also got a playful streak and loves showing off his zoomies and toy collection. And yes, he’s been caught dumpster diving for snacks, but one firm “no” is usually all it takes to remind him of his manners.Since arriving at his foster home, Diesel has been learning a ton. He knows how to sit, lie down, and go to his crate like a champ. He’s picking up on “place” and “settle,” and with a little guidance, he responds beautifully. He’s eager to please and loves having a job, especially if it means he gets to spend time with his favorite human.Diesel prefers calm introductions when meeting new people and would thrive in a quiet home without children. He lived happily with a female Great Dane and has done well with male dogs, too, so a home with one or two friendly, well-matched pups could be a great fit.His leash walking skills are improved and he goes on 2-3 walks a day near the apartment complex. He’s crate trained, house-savvy, and ready to give his heart to someone who understands the quirks and charm of a sensitive, loyal Dane.
