SRGDRR Inc aka Save Rocky the Great Dane Rescue and Rehab

SRGDRR is a 100% volunteer organization. Like all humane groups, SRGDRR is in the unique position of helping both humans and pets. In our case, the pets are Great Danes and Great Dane Mixes, and the people are those who have or want the companionship of the breed or, often, just dogs in general. SRGDRR helps people to:Determine the right breed of dog for their lifestyle.Find healthy and companionable dogs that fit their circumstances.Find loving replacement homes for Danes they can no longer keep.Become knowledgeable about the care and training of their Great Danes.Resolve their Danes physical/behavioral problem.Overcome the grief at the loss of their loved pet.Stretch their tax dollar by assuming the Dane burden from public shelters.SRGDRR helps Danes:By providing for the rescue and care of those who have been abandoned, neglected, and/or abused by their previous owners.We spay/neuter and provide medical treatment as necessary to return the Dane back to good health.We also supply training/socialization to ensure their adaptability to new, good homes.We work to place rescue Danes to people who provide secure, loving, and healthy homes.SRGDRR spends an average of $300 per dog that enters our rescue. In order for us to continue providing the best care and vetting for these babies, we need donations and adoptions. Thank you all so very much.

LOCATION: Oak Grove, KYDOB: 01/07/2023Meet Big Boy, a tan and white Great Dane–Great Pyrenees mix with a gentle heart and a love for the quiet life. He can be a little standoffish at first, especially with men, but once he trusts you, he’s sweet, goofy, and surprisingly affectionate. His loyalty runs deep once that bond is built.Big Boy is fully housetrained, crate trained, and rides well in the car. He enjoys slow-paced walks and backyard play, but overall, he’s a true couch potato. A calm environment is key for him—he gets overwhelmed by loud noises, sudden movements, and too much chaos.He currently lives with other dogs and cats and does great with all of them. He’s also lived with kids and done well, but would thrive best in a home with older children or teens who understand his need for space and calm. Big Boy is not suited for homes with poultry and will need a securely fenced yard or property, as he’s a flight risk until he’s comfortable.This big guy would do best in a home where women are the primary caretakers or where any men in the home are dog-savvy and around consistently—he needs time and presence to form a bond. He really enjoys the companionship of other dogs and seems to relax more when he has a dog friend around.Big Boy has come a long way and is ready for someone patient and kind to help him settle into the safe, loving home he deserves.
