Meet Gunther
4/25/2024Gunther is an owner surrender looking for a new home.Hi! My name is Gunther! I am a handsome 4 year old brindle boy that is an owner surrender due to my dog brother bullying me and in order for me to have a happy life, I need a forever home! I am described as friendly, shy, calm, smart, protective, playful, affectionate, quiet, and obedient! I do have seasonal allergies that make my skin itchy and my eyes puffy. Taking two Benadryl twice per day and a weekly bath helps to calm the itches from it! It is said that I am dog and kid friendly, currently living with kids ages 13 years and up. It is unsure if I am compatible with small children due to never having lived with them, so a proper introduction would be needed. Due to a high prey drive, it is best that I live in a cat and small animal free home. I am house trained, crate trained, and at night I get to choose if I want to sleep on a bed or in my crate. When the humans must be away and I am left alone, I do very well. I even do so well and have such good behavior I am trusted to roam freely in the home when the humans are away! When outside I have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences or gates. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, chewing toys (soft ones are my preference!), snuggling, playing, and going for walks! If you think I would make a great addition to your family, contact the rescue today and give them my name because I am waiting to meet you!
Adoption Process
The Process to adopt a dog through Austin Boxer Rescue is as follows:
Fill out an Online Adoption Application below.
Your application will be reviewed and sent to a volunteer in your area. The volunteer will contact you to schedule a home visit within one week. Normally, a volunteer would come to your house for a home visit, but until further notice, visits are being done virtually.
After your home visit is complete and you are approved you can begin meeting dogs. The Adoption Coordinator will assist you in this process.
Please note: The application process begins immediately once an application is submitted and approvals tend to occur quickly. Please do not submit an application unless you are ready to take home a dog. ABR does not have the space or capability to hold dogs, therefore, dogs are adopted out on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you are not able to proceed with a home visit when contacted by an ABR volunteer then your application will be filed away. We will ask you to resubmit your application if you wish to adopt later date.
Every dog adopted will have the following:
Current on vaccinations and dewormed
Spayed or neutered
Will be micro chipped
Will be treated for heartworms and/or on heartworm prevention
Any additional medical problems will be treated and paid for by the rescue. (Once a dog has been adopted any new medical problems that arise are the responsibility of the new owner)
