Meet Hazel II (New Digs)

Meet Hazel II, the squirrel-loving, belly-rub-obsessed, 3-year-old German shepherd lab mix. She is a 66-pound cuddle bug who has so much love to give that she wears her heart on her tail- (seriously, she has a heart-shaped spot on her tail!). Most times, you'll find her asleep against a fall with her pawsup, as if she's grandpa in a Lay-Z-Boy. When she's awake, Hazel is a good girl who could look up at her owner with her big brown eyes and a pop of her tongue out all day long and is always wanting to be an arm's length away (for pets and her need to be in the know). Hazel is up to date on vaccinations, is spayed, and microchipped. Hazel has a gentle, playful style. She loves to play with other dogs of all sizes and though she likes to usually stand on the sidelines and watch the action after she's said hello, she isn't bothered by other dogs wanting to keep her playing. She loves long walks and sniffing the grass, and her dream is to one day catch a squirrel. She makes a great running buddy too! Hazel hasn't met a dog or human she doesn't like, big or small, and they would say the same. If she was able to meet a cat, it seems like she would win them over as well. Hazel is a people pleaser, easily learning commands like come and wait, and will sit before you can even say it. Hazel is leash-trained, potty-trained, and is working on crate training. Although she was hesitant to the idea at first, feeding times in the crate have helped her change her idea of a crate and her new human can further this training if interested. If it hasn't been said enough, Hazel is a gentle giant ready to cuddle and receive affection at any given moment. You'll get the best night's sleep next to Hazel, as she melts into your arms like butter. Hazel would love to find a human who can work from home most days or have the flexibility to spend some personal time with her during her initial welcoming to ease any anxiety. Due to a lack of flexibility for remote work, I believe my inability to be home, especially in the beginning stage of bringing her home, had made Hazel anxious and act out in ways she wouldn't have otherwise done if given the proper time to decompress from her last environment. Hazel makes a great addition to a home whether she is an only dog or becoming a new best friend of a family with a dog already at home. She lives with another dog who she easily made friends with, and most nights can be found snuggling up together in the same dog bed. Hazel the lovebug is so deserving of a paw-fect home.
