Cumberland County Animal Shelter

Cumberland County Animal Shelter houses approximately 2000 animals every year. They have a small staff of a shelter Director and two full-time employees with the rest of the staff made up of part-timers who come and go. As a private, retired citizen, The shelter director has authorized me to go into the shelter five days a week to photograph animals to post at online adoption sites. I add, edit and then delete animals when they have been adopted or are no longer available. Because they do not have a large enough staff to handle this type of work, I am able to do it for the shelter, mostly from my home, as a free service.

Meet BUZZY

BUZZY appeared serious in photos at his intake in early May 2025 but became playful in his other photos soon after! This beautiful brindle and white bulldog mix male is estimated at three years of age. His Intake weight was a modest 39 pounds. For whatever reason, he looks bigger in the photos than he is in person. He is very playful and sweet and ready to meet you! Serious adopters are encouraged to CALL the shelter to schedule an adoption appointment. BUZZY still needs to be neutered before he can go home with you as your own. Staff can explain the adoption procedures and fees when you call. The shelter does require EXACT change in the form of cash or a check. The shelter is UNABLE to accept credit or debit. So, please go prepared!

Adoption Process
Adoption contract, Adoption fee of $50 per cat and $80 per dog set by county commission and subject to change, drivers license and cash or check only. The adoption fees currently cover most, but not all, of the spay/neuter cost incurred by the county.
