Almost Home Animal Rescue

Almost Home Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization made up solely of volunteers. Our primary purpose is to rescue mistreated or homeless animals and place them in loving environments. We hope to bring about a significant change in the treatment of all animals through educational programs and by working closely with other rescue organizations and sanctuaries.Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation. No animal is expendable! We strive to give animals the safe and happy life they deserve.

Meet Spade

*Due to rescuer being very ill, all her dogs are in desperate need!!! Ready for a story that’ll really pull at your heart strings? Spade is a year old short haired fox terrier (45-50 lbs/medium-large) who LOVES to be the star of the show. His drive to be active would put the energizer bunny to shame. He sincerely enjoys his snuggles and face scratches but if you’re looking for an active and fun dog to exercise with you, Spade is your guy! He LOVES water. Sometimes he even plays in his water bucket, we swore we wouldn’t tell but how cute is that? Spade wants to be your only pet. We do know that he needs to be in a home with older kids (15+) due to his nibbly behavior when he is overstimulated and overexcited. He is learning quickly not to jump up to greet people. He is really showing how smart he can be and how quickly he can pick up on things. Spade would like us to mention that he loves peanut butter and playing in the water! Spade was rescued from an animal control facility in Tennessee by some well-intentioned rescue community members after the facility actively refused to give him treatment for parvovirus. Parvovirus is one of the most deadly diseases a dog of his age can get. Unfortunately, those rescuers realized that his energy level was too much for them, so he was dropped at another rescue facility where he awaits his forever home. To be understood is all that Spade needs in life. It can be hard to place a dog like him, but we know that there are some truly good people that can appreciate a good challenge! *Guest Posting If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at [email protected] or 865-236-0830.
