Meet Nathan

I never thought I’d end up here. My name’s Nathan, and I’m a three-year-old Australian Shepherd mix. Not long ago, I had a family. I had food in a bowl and a soft spot to curl up. Then, one day, it was gone. The house, the people, everything. My family was evicted, and they left me, my brother Redman, and our friends to fend for ourselves on the streets. The streets are not kind to dogs like me. Loud cars. Empty nights. Fear in my belly and no hand to comfort me. By the time we were scooped up and brought to the shelter, I was trembling. My body was safe, but my heart was still scared. But I’m trying. Slowly, I’ve started to believe that maybe, just maybe, there are gentle people left in this world. People who will give me calm, who will give me patience. People who won’t rush me but will let me find my courage again. And when you see me start to trust, you’ll notice it right away—I’m sweet as can be. I lean in for affection, and I want so badly to love and be loved again. I am beautiful, inside and out, even if I’m still a little shy. I’m good with other dogs, and I’d do best with older kids who understand a heart that’s still healing. I can be adopted with Redman or on my own—but please, don’t pass me by. I need someone with open arms and an open heart. I’m waiting for the chance to finally feel safe again. Love, Nathan *Guest Posting**You can foster to adopt, foster or foster to adopt!* If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at [email protected] or 865-236-0830.
