Cumberland County Animal Shelter

Cumberland County Animal Shelter houses approximately 2000 animals every year. They have a small staff of a shelter Director and two full-time employees with the rest of the staff made up of part-timers who come and go. As a private, retired citizen, The shelter director has authorized me to go into the shelter five days a week to photograph animals to post at online adoption sites. I add, edit and then delete animals when they have been adopted or are no longer available. Because they do not have a large enough staff to handle this type of work, I am able to do it for the shelter, mostly from my home, as a free service.

Meet STUBBY

Holy cow! Look at the joy on the face of this young adult male dog! STUBBY is listed as a one year-old mountain cur mix. His Intake weight was 28 pounds and he is definitely light on his feet as he makes the leaps and turns out in the side yard while staff cleans his dog crate. This fellow could be a good fit for a family or person looking for a playmate and someone who can bring a smile to their own faces. STUBBY has not yet been neutered. That must be done before he can go home with you as your own. Serious adopters are encouraged to CALL the shelter to schedule an adoption of appointment. Staff can explain the adoption procedures and fees when you call.. The shelter does require EXACT change in the form of cash or a check. The shelter is UNABLE to accept credit or debit. So, please go prepared! 

Adoption Process
Adoption contract, Adoption fee of $50 per cat and $80 per dog set by county commission and subject to change, drivers license and cash or check only. The adoption fees currently cover most, but not all, of the spay/neuter cost incurred by the county.
