Cumberland County Animal Shelter

Cumberland County Animal Shelter houses approximately 2000 animals every year. They have a small staff of a shelter Director and two full-time employees with the rest of the staff made up of part-timers who come and go. As a private, retired citizen, The shelter director has authorized me to go into the shelter five days a week to photograph animals to post at online adoption sites. I add, edit and then delete animals when they have been adopted or are no longer available. Because they do not have a large enough staff to handle this type of work, I am able to do it for the shelter, mostly from my home, as a free service.

Meet ANDY

ANDY is estimated to be about three years of age. He weighed 23 pounds at Intake. He is a really good looking and sweet wirehaired terrier mix according to the information on his cage card. He arrived at the shelter in mid June 2025 without a care in the world. He does have a long-haired coat that will require maintenance and he does happen to have a cherry eye in the right eye. That is cosmetic only and you are welcome to have it removed. However, it is not a serious problem to have that taken care of by your vet. ANDY has not yet been neutered and that must be done before he can go home with you as your own. Serious adopters are encouraged to CALL the shelter to schedule an adoption appointment. Staff can explain the adoption procedures and fees when you call. The shelter does require EXACT change in the form of cash or a check. The shelter is UNABLE to accept credit or debit. So, please go prepared!

Adoption Process
Adoption contract, Adoption fee of $50 per cat and $80 per dog set by county commission and subject to change, drivers license and cash or check only. The adoption fees currently cover most, but not all, of the spay/neuter cost incurred by the county.
