Critter Cavalry Rescue

We are a group of dedicated rescue people who want to save as many dogs and cats from the local shelters before they are euthanized. On the average....there are only 1 out of 10 animals that get adopted from a shelter. We are dedicated to helping increase pet adoptions by offering a shelter animal a foster home to go to while awaiting an adoptive family to find them on our Petfinder website. Won't you please adopt a shelter animal? Or won't you please help us foster a shelter animal while we are looking for their perfect home? What a gift you can give a dog or cat by giving them a place to feel safe and secure....a forever home or a foster home. Won't you help us at Critter Cavalry give them a chance to have a life?

Meet ANNABELLE

Annabelle is as sweet as her southern name sounds.  A beautiful example of the stunning breed that of Norwegian Elkhounds that she was born in to 5 months ago. This 35 pound young girl pup came from a breeder/kennel situation that grew too large and overpopulated, so she's used to being around multiple dogs. Critter Cavalry Rescue has been helping find homes for some of these striking young pups and even some of the adults.  We took Annabelle the middle of February from this outdoor kennel lifestyle and within a few weeks she was integrated into a foster home that was  active and busy and includes two other dogs.  Annabelle is a beauty who is smart and affectionate and who loves to sit beside you on the couch or lay at your feet. A quiet and calm pup that is good natured and who enjoys being around other dogs and meeting new people and children. Her foster parents do not have a cat but the other Elkhounds that we have brought in to the rescue have all embraced living with cats very easily and with no prey drive or adverse reactions.   This girl is so trainable at just about anything you want her to learn and to do. She has learned some basic commands, like sit and wait, she walks on a leash, does her business outside (mostly) and sleeps in her crate through the night.  The breed is known to be talkers and so Annabelle doesn’t disappoint in being vocal and letting you know how she feels. She has learned to find her favorite chew toys out of the toy box and she enjoys raiding it daily to find fun things to play with.  She is like a sponge and will learn all things that you try to teach her.   She learns fast and with just a few repetitions of experiences, she learned how to jump into the car after first being fearful of the process. She's been a good passenger (in crate) on long car rides and does not get car sick….a bonus! Norwegian Elkhounds typically weigh about 50 pounds at adulthood.  This special soul we call Annabelle, is going to make a great addition to the right family.   If you are interested please let us know by emailing us at [email protected]   She is in Nashville, Tn and we transport northward to the northeastern states and can work with others in different parts of the country within an 8 hours drive.
