Critter Cavalry Rescue

We are a group of dedicated rescue people who want to save as many dogs and cats from the local shelters before they are euthanized. On the average....there are only 1 out of 10 animals that get adopted from a shelter. We are dedicated to helping increase pet adoptions by offering a shelter animal a foster home to go to while awaiting an adoptive family to find them on our Petfinder website. Won't you please adopt a shelter animal? Or won't you please help us foster a shelter animal while we are looking for their perfect home? What a gift you can give a dog or cat by giving them a place to feel safe and secure....a forever home or a foster home. Won't you help us at Critter Cavalry give them a chance to have a life?

Meet TODD

Hello, My name is Todd and I am a really wonderful Standard Dachshund boy that is only a year old and weighs 28 pounds.  I am on the bigger side of Dachshund weights but I still have that low rider look and fun that I promise to give.  I came to Critter Cavalry Rescue when my former owner who was homeless, called them from an emergency vet (ER) and told them that I was very sick and he had no money to get me well.  I had parvo and it is deadly if you don’t treat it.  Critter Cavalry agreed to step up and take over my health care and get me treated so I wouldn’t die.  It was touch and go for 5 days and then I turned the corner.  The paid the ER vet $2600 to save my life and I am really grateful.  I have found a place with a great family who has a Dachshund and loves them.  They foster lots of other dogs and puppies too and I love to play with everyone.  I really need a bigger dog to live with in the future.  I play really hard and am fast on my short legs, too.  Sometimes I play harder than the big dogs.  I am Ok with cats but I really like to play chase with them.  They do not find that fun, but I sure do!  I am considered a high energy boy that knows how to chill when the time is right.  I have high gear and then I can have low gear some, too.  I am good with the young boys in the family home and I am housebroken and will let you know when I need to go outside.   Just watch for my signals.  I am crate trained and I am finished growing and I am not aggressive with toys or food or anything!  I am a lover and I am looking for a wonderful family of humans who have another playful dog that I can hang out with and play all day long in a fenced yard!  I need a fenced yard or a dog park that will not let me run off in to the road.  I really would do best in a home with mature children and adults.  I am nervous when I first meet new people but I do warm quickly.  I love being near my foster mom and older daughter a lot and I love to be touching them as much as possible.  They are calm and mature and they adore me.  I am so lucky they are taking care of me. They give me baths and cut my toenails and I am very OK with that.  I am ready for a new home on 9/10.  If you would like to explore me coming to live with you, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at [email protected]  I can hop on the van and ride north or just stay here in Nashville, TN and find a wonderful forever home too! PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.
