Cumberland County Animal Shelter

Cumberland County Animal Shelter houses approximately 2000 animals every year. They have a small staff of a shelter Director and two full-time employees with the rest of the staff made up of part-timers who come and go. As a private, retired citizen, The shelter director has authorized me to go into the shelter five days a week to photograph animals to post at online adoption sites. I add, edit and then delete animals when they have been adopted or are no longer available. Because they do not have a large enough staff to handle this type of work, I am able to do it for the shelter, mostly from my home, as a free service.

Meet SASHA

SASHA and her two siblings are listed as Shepherd mixes. The three puppies were estimated at 12 weeks of age when they arrived in mid April 2025. The three darlings had skin issues upon arrival that resulted in the loss of their fur. Staff treated them successfully for that condition and they are now looking fabulous since all of their fur has returned! The three puppies romp and play whenever they are not sleeping or eating and they devour all of the attention they can get from staff! What a surprise! They have already learned how to charm the people around them and use it to their advantage. SASHA has not yet been spayed and that must be done before she can go home with you as your own. Serious adopters are encouraged to see ALL the shelter to schedule an adoption appointment. Staff can explain the adoption procedures and fees when you call. The shelter is UNABLE to accept credit or debit. So, please go prepared!

Adoption Process
Adoption contract, Adoption fee of $50 per cat and $80 per dog set by county commission and subject to change, drivers license and cash or check only. The adoption fees currently cover most, but not all, of the spay/neuter cost incurred by the county.
