Meet Abby
My name’s Abby. I’m four years old, 90 pounds of German Shepherd grace, and I’ve been told I’m beautiful—though what I really hope is that someone will see past my looks and into my heart. I used to have a home. A quiet one, with a kind elderly couple who loved me. They gave me my first ball, scratched behind my ears, and taught me what it feels like to be wanted. But life has a way of changing things no one asks for. My people ran into troubles so heavy they lost not just me, but their very home. One day, it was all gone, and I was left without them. I know they didn’t stop loving me—they just couldn’t keep me. When I first arrived in my foster home, my skin itched and hurt from a flea allergy that left me red and sore. But with care and medicine, I healed, and now I’m shiny, strong, and ready for the new chapter I keep dreaming about. I’m a good girl—housebroken, well-mannered, and gentle. I don’t jump up on people, I love kids, and I’ve got no quarrel with cats. Give me a ball and I’ll play fetch until your laughter tells me you’ve had enough. Take me on a walk or a hike and I’ll stay right there with you, step for step. And if you just want to sit quietly, reading or working, I’ll curl beside you like a steady shadow. Sometimes, when you leave, my heart aches a little more than it should. I’ve known what it feels like to lose everything, and it makes me cling a little tighter. But I’m learning—every day gets easier. A fenced yard with a little shelter outside helps me wait more calmly, and I promise with time and love, I’ll grow braver about being alone. What I want most is simple: a family who won’t have to let me go. Someone who will play fetch with me, keep me safe from the fleas that once made me miserable, and let me carry my favorite collar, leash, and toy into forever.I’ve lost once. I don’t want to lose again. Will you be the one to give me my “always”?
